Trails 4 Tomorrow (T4T) is excited to announce that our AGM will be held on Tuesday, March 5 at 7:00pm and we need YOUR involvement! 

We have worked hard to foster relationships with external stakeholders (such as Alberta Environment and Parks) and 4 wheel drive clubs/groups and we need help to continue to grow those relationships. There are exciting events, trail projects, and other exciting opportunities in 2024 and beyond. 

Please note that a few of our current board members are looking to stay on so they will be available for support to our new board members! This is a list of roles* we are looking to fill and their responsibilities (voted yearly):

1. President - Set goals, keep Society focused on priorities. 

2. Vice President - Master 5E trail planner, continue relationship building with government

3. Secretary - Official record keeper

4. Treasurer - Keep track of the money, file taxes

5. Fund Raising - Grants, raise money

6. External Relations – Building relationships with non-governmental organizations and non-motorized clubs 

7. Social Media - Public relations, marketing and communications

8. Tech Coordinator - Website and tech support

9. Project Manager - Project planning and execution

10. Volunteer Coordinator - Heath, Safety & Environment policies, communicating and organizing volunteers

11. Trail Manager - Coordinate with and support Trail Reps

12. Membership Coordinator - Keep track of memberships, liaison with members and potential members 

13. Trail Reps (4 roles - North, North Central, South Central, and South) - Know the clubs, the trails, the locals, the local issues, the local officials 

 Nominations for the first 4 positions are requested prior the AGM to allow us to prepare for the meeting. 

* To be elected for any position you need to be in attendance at the AGM or provide written acceptance to the current President prior to the AGM or within 10 days after the AGM

The AGM will be held over Google Meet to allow all Albertan’s to attend and participate. We are unable to accommodate late joiners after the meeting has started.

Additionally, here are the T4T’s Goals, Objectives, and Expectations:

Goals:

Ensure the sustainability of recreational trails for 4-wheel drive vehicles within Alberta

Objective:

Have a functional and cohesive Board of Directors

Expectations:

- Attend and participate in regular T4T meetings and occasional committee meetings (as required);

- Provide coverage for vacations, family emergencies, etc for other board members;

- Complete all tasks within your role in a timely fashion. If there’s time, please support other board members with tasks;

- Communicate with the President if you are unable to complete a task;

- Support our volunteers at events (as required);

- Sign up to promote T4T at events;

- Respond to emails and phone calls within a reasonable timeframe;

- Sign up for training and learning opportunities through other relevant organizations (e.g., Alberta Off Highway Vehicle Association, Cows and Fish, etc.) to continue to expand your knowledge and understanding of trail building and stewardship;

- Continuously promote trail stewardship and T4T’s mission, vision, values; and

- Most importantly: Have fun!!

We understand that this is a volunteer role but we expect that you treat it as you would any other job.

           Train local clubs on sustainable trail building

           Fundraising for trail projects

           Provide clubs Tread Lightly content

What we don't do?        

            Social trail rides, events, tours, etc.

           Execution of trail projects

            Take liability for clubs or user groups

           Monitor user etiquette and behaviour education

           Train end users on Tread Lightly 

What is a 5E Master Trail Plan?

A Master Trail Plan is a vital part of an overall recreation management plan for a management area. The Master Trail Plan will define the long-term vision for the planning area and include elements such as potential trail maps that define key elements of the trail system such as staging areas, main access corridor trails, and experience trails. It will also include key values for the area, such as scenic vistas or other valuable destinations, and sensitive wildlife corridors to be avoided. The master plan will include key metrics of success, such as length of trails, either measured in actual distance, or measured in ‘Seat time’. A full 5E Master Trail Plan will include all these items, as well as considerations of each of the 5Es in the plan: identify the unique Experiences in the area, the Engineering considerations, how users will be Educated and rules Enforced, and the key performance indicators to be used for Evaluation.
